The Dreaded To-Do List

The Dreaded To-Do List

August 5, 2022

In the last post, I left you with taking five minutes and connecting with yourself. (I Don’t Have Time!  Exploring Possibilities)  So today  I’m going to write about connecting mindfulness and reduction of stress without taking up tons of time.

THE TO-DO LIST

We’re going to look at the to-do list, not by adding more, but by making a list of things you’re going to do for yourself to prioritize personal well-being.

HOW CAN THIS BE ACCOMPLISHED?

Look at your everyday routines and reframe them. (look at something in a different way)   In those routines you will find opportunities for self care and well-being.  Activities that truly make you feel better.  For example, watering the plants can be a time for contemplation.  Nurturing plants is said to boost mood and reduce stress.  Cooking dinner is a time for gratitude which builds a positive outlook.

Remembering to be realistic about what can be accomplished in a day is an important part of prioritizing health and well-being.  Trying to do too much, just to be able to tick off boxes will only be discouraging tomorrow.

ACTIVITY

Try this activity to get you reframing your everyday activities.  Write down what you consider everyday chores.  Then think about which ones give you inner quiet and nourish your soul.  You may find many of the things you do already provide that sense of quiet.

WHAT GIVES YOU A SENSE OF WELL-BEING?

Comment below!

After you have brainstormed these activities, break them down into smaller tasks.  Then tack a new habit onto an existing one.  If you have a cup of coffee or tea in the morning, add reading a chapter in your book while you are sipping.

Activities on everyday to-do lists can provide a time for calm and contemplation.
