Wandering about Winter 2
Wandering about Winter 2

More wanderings!
Part of my wanderings this winter include Painting and Printing with Natural Dyes with Maiwa.com. I feel like a chemist formulating and mixing mordants and dyes. Mordants prepare the fabric to accept the dyes. You can see my palette so far in the first picture above. Some of the dyes come from weld, madder, buckthorn, logwood, pomegranate, and more. Mixing the dyes with each other create even more colors. I love the earthy shades and how they print or paint on fabric. These fabrics above are organic and natural cottons.
Bookmaking and Painting
Creativity is wandering and I’ve been making books, journals and painting.
The Handmade Book Club (a part of Vintage Page Designs) keeps its members busy wandering with lots of activities and ideas. These are just a few of my creations, including matchbox books, gel printed covers, and Asemic writing journals. I love the feel of paper and creating a one of a kind piece brings me great joy.
Painting is a relative new activity for me, in that I never thought I could paint. What I’ve found is, with a great teacher, I can paint and draw. And the same goes for abstract painting, too. Class, whether in-person or on-line, provides a safe place to wander through putting the paint on a canvas and creating something beautiful.
The warmth of indoor activities, candles burning, and relaxing in the evening are wanderings that I love.
Have a creative day!
