An Art Therapy Experience

Art and Creativity

Art is a creative form of expression. It encourages using both sides of the brain. It allows the artist to express their ideas in a non-verbal way and connects with their unconscious thoughts and feelings. The human brain loves creativity and through creativity humans express growth and awareness of themselves. Creativity has a positive impact on mental health, improving emotional well-being and the ability to think.

What is an Art Therapy Experience?

Art Therapy is an experience that enables the individual to develop their personality, explore emotions, solve problems, and maintain good mental health, as well as other objectives. Art therapy helps the individual access their unconscious to enable internal change. It is a new way to communicate and reconnect with themself. It is a language beyond speech and improves quality of life. This approach encourages an individual to be whole, capable of progress.

Creativity and art happens in many forms, music, dancing, writing, drawing, painting, and sculpture to name a few. Therefore art therapy includes those forms or the individual’s own form of creativity.

Next week I’ll talk about the client’s role in an art therapy session. If you have any comments or questions about an art therapy experience please use the comment section below. Of course, if you have any comments or questions in general please use the comments below.
