How to Start Journaling (Continued)

How to Start Journaling (Continued)

July 31, 2023

I hope you had some time to try a few of the hints from last Monday’s blog post. I would love to hear about anything you tried.

Here are 10 more hints.

  1. Put the date at the top of the page. That’s all that is needed.

  2. Ask questions.

    How do I feel?

Why so I feel that way?

How do I want to feel?

What do I need to do to feel that way?

  3. Talk (write) to the journal as you would talk to a friend.

  4. Keep your journal entries short — one word or one sentence.

  5. Write lists, write what you are grateful for, scribble or draw on the page, write pros and cons for an issue you are having.

  6. Write on a calendar — just a few words.

  7. You do not have to finish what you start.

  8. Keep your journal with you at all times.

  9. Use a guided journal.

The Five Minute Journal: A Happier You in Five Minutes a Day

Today I Affirm: A Journal that Nurtures Self-Care — Alexandra Elle

True You: A self-Discovery Journal of Prompts and Exercises to Inspire Reflection and Growth — Dr. Kelly Vincent

Lots more guided journals on Amazon.

  10. Pinterest journal prompts.

I hope these hints have inspired you to think about starting a journal practice. Please share your thoughts in the comments below.

Have an inspiring day,

Ann
