The benefits of journaling are quite impressive.

  1. Journaling evokes mindfulness. When you are writing, your focus is on just that, writing. You are in the moment thinking about what you are writing. When you are in the moment, you are not regretting the past or worrying about what might happen. You find yourself grateful and happy. Mindfulness connects with happiness.

  2. Journal writing helps achieve goals. When you write a goal in your journal it signals the brain that what you wrote is important, therefore you are more apt to achieve that goal.

  3. Journal writing encourages emotional intelligence. Processing emotions in your journal increases self-awareness, helping you to become more emotionally stable.

  4. Journaling boosts memory and comprehension. Anytime you are using more than one of your five senses at a time, your capabilities of remembering the information increases. As you compose and recompose, your memory is boosted.

  5. Journaling strengthens self-discipline. The daily practice of writing leads to other healthy habits.
